EWE AG × Verbund — EC-Approved Green Hydrogen JV: 320 MW Electrolyser Linked to Germany’s Hydrogen Grid
EU
The European Commission formally approved the 50/50 joint venture between Germany’s EWE AG and Austria’s Verbund AG. The JV centres on EWE’s €800 million Clean Hydrogen Coastline initiative in Emden — a 320 MW electrolyser targeting 27,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2027, linked directly into Germany’s 9,000 km Wasserstoff-Kernnetz. Verbund contributes hydropower-driven electrolysers including a 60 MW facility in Linz, alongside North Africa import routes under the H2 Notos project in Tunisia.
