NextEra Energy × Caliber Resource Partners — $1.3B Acquisition + Shale JV with Quantum Capital

NextEra Energy agreed to acquire Caliber Resource Partners for $1.3 billion and simultaneously formed a shale joint venture with Caliber's PE backer Quantum Capital Group to manage NextEra's US shale assets. The move signals NextEra expanding beyond renewables into flexible gas and shale to meet the surging power demands of AI hyperscale data centres. NextEra is targeting 15 GW of power for data centre hubs by 2035.
